The Thirsk and Northallerton Golf Club (TNGC) Ladies’ Section has over 100 members. It is an active section run by a ladies’ committee, which shares responsibility for running the ladies’ section.
We look forward to welcoming new lady members, either those who are new to the area or those who are new to golf. We have a very successful, Get in to Golf Programme which we run each year. TNGC is proud to have been awarded the “R&A Women in Golf Charter”. In line with R&A and England Golf principles we are committed to attracting more women and girls to the sport. If you are interested in playing golf, I am happy to meet with you and show you our club. Please call the office to arrange an appointment.
We encourage new members to join in both competitions and social golf. Our ladies’ competitions are held on Wednesday mornings when the ladies have tee reservations. We hold a 9-hole competition and an 18-hole competition each week. To accommodate working ladies, we hold some competitions on a Saturday. There are various fun “roll up” games which take place on Mondays and Fridays.
Ladies’ Friendlies
We play two clubs each year where we have a home and away match. This is to enable new ladies and higher handicappers to experience playing in a match and visit other clubs. We match a more experienced player with a newer player for a fun day out.
Interclub Team Competitions
We have teams which take part in the Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association (YLCGA) Inter-club competitions during the summer. This year we have an A team, B team, and White Rose team. Please visit the website www.ylcga.com for more information.
From October to March, we have a team entered in The Winter League Competition one day a month, with teams of six players playing Greensomes format in pairs. This is a Harrogate & District Union of Golf Clubs competition. Please visit www.hdugc.co.uk for more information.
Dales Alliance Matches are held one day a month at a weekend in the winter months October-March, with teams of six people playing Greensomes format in pairs.
